MRSA case confirmed; doctors say risk being overblown

Remain calm. That is the message from doctors and school officials following confirmed reports of a local case of drug-resistant staph infection."I think this is being blown all out of proportion," said Dr. Louis Schenfeld, a Johnstown-based infectious disease specialist.MRSA, or methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, has been around since 1963, Schenfeld said. It usually is confined to a boil that should be lanced by a doctor and then usually goes away on its own."Staph is the most common form of skin infection," he said. "MRSA is the most common type of staph infection."For years, MRSA was confined to hospitals. But it began appearing in the general population during the late 1990s and is being seen more outside hospitals and nursing homes.News of a confirmed infection in a Conemaugh Township High School student brought a deluge of phone calls to the district, Superintendent Joseph DiBartola said."We kind of fielded those (calls) to let parents know what had occurred and what we were doing," DiBartola said.

Internet California Plans to Control Home Thermostats Via Internet ...

Here's another option, maybe it's time for us humans to think about decreasing our population. That would help solve almost all of our problems with energy, pollution, poverty, war...I think we hit our limit at around 4 billion. Current estimates put world population at well over 6 billion. We can check our own population growth, or Mother Nature will do it for us. .

NRI count causes a scare

Even when the government conducts economic surveys, the figures are often misleading from the public.

Darshan Singh, a farmer from Chhapar, said, We are scared that the government might be collecting the data to levy some special tax. People will not be forthcoming with complete information in this case.

Jugminder Grewal, SDM, entrusted with collecting data for the East Ludhiana, Dehlon, Koom Kalan and Jassowal subdivisions, said, We are nearly complete with the data. We are not closing the books because there are a number of people who have not yet come forward with all the details of information. We are meeting people and informing them that data was a mere information bank.

Another senior official said, We are not very clear about the details and reasons for the data collection.

HOUND DOG BILL IS BACK - AND HE'S BARKING LOUD

Despite reports, it's probably easier to pen in press than it is to subdue and shut up the testosterone-fueled bad boy as he travels from state to state stumping and pressing the flesh (OK, bad choice of words) with the thousands of adoring fans who crowd him unrestrained after his speeches.

But clearly Team Clinton was in damage-control mode during the week, trying to make up for his untoward, racially insensitive remarks. (The jury is still out about whether or not they were really off the cuff or not.) He was introduced at each of his last-minute-arranged, hectic venues by prominent African-Americans and Hispanics.

There was former Mayor Wellington Webb in Denver, Mayor Martin Chavez in Albuquerque, and Queens Congressman Gregory Meeks in Phoenix and Albuquerque.

It's clear that Hound Dog Bill wants to be in the White House again, even if that takes getting America to elect his wife.
