I'll miss GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, who has withdrawn from the race. I stepped off the plane from Chicago (broadcasting from the Chicago Regional Auto Show) and was given the word. I was shocked. I guess I might have been more shocked that it happened now, rather than that it happened. It seemed to be a matter of time, but I thought there was more campaigning left. I still don't understand the apparent disconnect between Republicans and conservatives. I realize the gap between being a Republican and being a conservative is wider than ever. Not as wide as, say, a river, but more like, oh, maybe a Bush. • According to an Associated Press-Ipsos poll, President Bush has reached his lowest approval rating with 30 percent of those polled saying they are happy with the job he's doing (overall) as president; he apparently is also at an all-time low in his support among Republicans.
A better us
With so many New Orleanians having been blown to the four corners of the nation, families can no longer take for granted the ties that bind us together and serve as safety nets for individuals. Many New Orleanians are still unable to return to the city. Some that have returned have found themselves living in communities where they have never resided or living next to complete strangers. While these new living arrangements present some challenges, they are also an opportunity for residents to create a better "us." If we are going to return to having supportive, vibrant communities in which families support and look out for one another, we must first rebuild ourselves. That means doing whatever is necessary to uplift ourselves one person, one family and one neighborhood at a time.

Imagine the obsession and fervor, the unending need for technological superiority, and the ultimate futility of such a goal. Imagine, if you will, the Brotherhood of Steel. In Fallout 3, the Brotherhood of Steel is one of the most important and influential factions you'll encounter. And while it's true they are a military organization, the Brotherhood's values and command structure are actually more representative of a medieval knightly order. Like the Templars of old, in their own eyes, the members of the Brotherhood of Steel are pure, they are just -- they are truly human in a world filled with both physical and moral corruption. But it is the worship of technology that truly defines and drives them.

New Orleans went on a tear in January at 12-2 straight up and ATS. Maybe not talked about as much is the Hornets' tendency to go over the total lately too. The over/under went 9-5 in January while New Orleans found its shooting touch and scored fewer than 100 points only three times during the incredible winning spree. The biggest factor in the turnaround is that the Hornets are now getting contributions from everyone on the floor and bench. New Orleans has been whipping the ball around, making teams dizzy while they chase it, and the first guy who's open just drains the shot. Even guys like 6-foot-9 reserve forward Ryan Bowen. He averaged 6.5 points in 14.8 minutes in the four games before a loss to Golden State on Wednesday. "Teams are just leaving me wide open," Bowen told the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
