Dad did not sleep well the night before so most the time he would pack the car the evening before. Mom would try to let Dad get a couple of hours of sleep before the long drive from Ohio to the Cape. We would normally leave late and drive through the night and get to the Cape around noonish. We tried to stop once and that was a disaster as no one sleep and it was a waste of money. Even into my years of driving, we have done the same. Only now that it is just my wife and I we do try to find a place to stop over night to and from. Personally I would rather get there and have more time for the Cape. But I am learning to take things a little easier now that the kids are not along for the ride. The only night with more anticipation was Christmas Eve, we couldn’t sleep, we didn’t want to sleep, we just wanted to go.
Thai PM outlines plans in his first weekly talk show
BANGKOK, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's newly elected Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej said Sunday in his first weekly talk show through state TV and radio that he believed he can govern the state to a good future. The talk show, named "Samak Talk", was the first of its kind since his six-party coalition government took office Thursday. Samak disclosed in the program that the Cabinet at its weekly meeting next Tuesday will discuss two important issues, namely the foreign capital reserve requirement policy and the draft government policy. After the 2006 coup, the Bank of Thailand issued a 30 percent foreign capital reserve requirement policy, which has caused a lot of controversies, especially among foreign investors who thought it an obstacle while investing in Thailand.

It's a great update for a much-loved product. MacBook Air, from Apple: In the history of Apple announcements, this was one of the least surprising: Pretty much everyone in the room at Steve Jobs's Expo keynote was expecting a thin notebook. But they probably weren't expecting this: The MacBook Air is almost frighteningly skinny. And yet it really is a full-fledged Mac, with a 1.6GHz or 1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU and reasonable quantities of RAM, hard drive, keyboard, and screen. Sure, you have to give up an optical drive, Ethernet, FireWire, stereo speakers, and a few other amenities. But tell that to the hundreds of Mac users who crowded the Apple booth at Expo, balancing their MacBook Air daintily on their fingertips, and beaming widely. Guitar Hero III, from Aspyr: This game lets you live out your rock star fantasies as you "play" guitar or bass along with your favorite rock songs.

Leonardo DiCaprio must be voting absentee, because right now he's living the good life with his hot girlfriend Bar Refaeli down in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. It's almost a whole month since their last beach vacation, so it's understandable that he feels the need for another one. And it's not like it's any big secret why he would want to have his lady friend in a bikini as much as possible. It looks like while Leo was mostly enamored by his girl's assets, he also made sure to keep up to date on his BlackBerry and document his vacation on the digital camera. Most of all though, how much are you loving his beach hat? .

A new magazine is devoted to cosmetic surgery. NewBeauty promises "the latest advances in plastic surgery, dermatology and cosmetic dentistry," plus "profiles of leading plastic surgeons, facial plastic surgeons, dermatologists, and cosmetic dentists." The editorial director promises "the ultimate guide to breast enhancement" and "everything you need to know about lasers and injectables." Critique: Great, more self-hatred of the natural human form. Defense: Your lips say no, but your eyes say yes. Congress is moving to restrict cold medicine because an ingredient can be used to make methamphetamine. Ten Democratic and seven Republican senators have signed on to S. 103, the Combat Meth Act. Summary by sponsor Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.): "The most effective thing we can do to make meth harder to manufacture is to put cold medicine behind the counter at pharmacies and require purchasers to sign for it and show photo ID." Implication: The line between licit and illicit drugs is blurring.
BBC in private equity talks
Amazon is to bow out of DVD rentals and throw its weight behind Lovefilm, the leading European specialist,. Amazon is to transfer its subscribers and inject some cash to Lovefilm in exchange for a stake believed to be about 30 per cent of the company and valued at about £60 million (E80m) to £70 million.
Simon Calver, chief executive of Lovefilm, said the arrival of Amazon as the single biggest shareholder did not mean an end to plans for an eventual initial public offering or buy-out of the business. "This puts those options more firmly on the table than before," he said. Lovefilm, which hired Goldman Sachs in December 2006 to explore its strategic options, is backed by Arts Alliance Media, Index Ventures, Balderton Capital and DFJ Esprit. Amazon will offer LovefilmÂ’s rental service via its own websites in the UK and Germany and provide marketing support.
