Severe Teen Acne Proactiv Solution Acne Treatment 3 Step
Adult sufferers find acne is hard to face

Age lines and acne? This wasn't supposed to happen.

Acne, normally the bane of teenagers, was flaring up on Kim Noble's 50-year-old face, causing the Atlanta businesswoman no small degree of frustration.

"I started when I was a teenager with acne problems, and as I got older, it got worse," she says.

"I was told it was due to stress and hormones. I've tried everything that was out there, from (rubbing) alcohol to injections to Accutane to Proactiv," says Noble, who has been seeing a dermatologist for years but still has flare-ups.

She's not alone. Dr. Jodi Ganz, an Atlanta dermatologist, estimates half her patients are adults with mild to severe acne breakouts.

"There are a ton of people with adult acne. For women, flare-ups usually occur the week before their periods; that's what we call hormonally linked acne.

Steroids testing debated

Texas looks to begin testing athletes next month, the result of a two-year, $6 million program approved by the state's legislature last May.New Jersey and Florida already do. So why not Oklahoma?Area coaches favor such testing, but they have one overriding concern — the cost."The problem is that it's so expensive," Muskogee football coach Matt Hennesy said. "Where would the funding come from, I don't know."Hennesy remembers when he was an assistant coach at Jenks and he said it cost $100 per test for steroids."If you figure 100 football players, you're talking about $10,000," he said. "(The cost) may have changed since then. I think it's great (to have testing). I don't see how anyone can afford it."According to a Fort Worth Star-Telegram article, the cost per test in Texas will be $175.

Blackface-wearing Party Goers Racist?

Let me tell you a story about a party where one or more of the attendees were dressed in blackface as part of their costume.

The students were having a great time. Drinks were flowing, music playing, stories were being shared. Each costume brought more and more laughter. Some were dressed as ball players, one as Madonna, others as astronauts and even a few religious figures could be seen.

Then it happened. In walks a kid wearing blackface. The party guests, made up of different races, quickly begin to whisper and stare at the new guest as he walks over to get a drink.

Not that it's important, but the rest of the costume is a dark 3-piece suit, sunglasses and a pendant around his neck. He's carrying a briefcase. There may have been a top hat too but I can't remember.

The clock people and the sun people will converge counterproductively ...

My guess is McCain.

If that's right, then succeeding in Iraq, as quickly as possible, may not only be the surest route to the White House for the Democrats. It may also be the quickest. ... If there is a way to win, Democrats have at least as big a partisan incentive to find it as Republicans do. ... [Via Instapundit] 11:10 P.M. link

Shift_Glitch: What's happening at Nissan's Canton, Mississippi factory? The big news in the 2006 Consumer Reports New Car Preview--which features a large-sample reliability survey--is that the vehicles built at this plant have dreadful reliability records. Their repair histories are so bad CR has to use a broken bar to fit them on its chart! The Nissan Quest minivan has a reliability score of 133% worse than average. The Nissan Titan pickup is 101% worse than average.

Fugitive roundup corrals six

Little said the department has filed for "about a dozen" new escape warrants to replace those that vanished. More new warrants are likely.

He said the state has found no single cause of their disappearance. In some cases, it appears warrants were never filed after an escape. Others apparently were purged as law enforcement agencies moved from paper-based systems to computerized networks.

More than 80 additional state inmates imprisoned in local jails have escaped over the past 25 years and remain at large.

The state Department of Correction has insisted that the responsibility of finding those escapees falls on local sheriffs' offices, but Little said Tuesday that the state is working with several counties to rectify "some individual situations we have identified" in which warrants don't exist.

Three weeks until it begins anew

It's only January, but two early frontrunners for my top 10 CDs of 2008 were releases this week from two Georgia-based bands: The Whigs' Mission Control and the Drive-By Truckers' Brighter Than Creation's Dark. Also, Atlanta band The Selmanaires have just released another excellent CD, Throw in local bands the Black Lips, Manchester Orchestra and Dead Confederate, and it's a really great time for rock in the Atlanta area.

— In sports we demand excellence, rings, etc. Many among us become peeved at anything short of a title or the No. 1 position. And yet in so much of our pop culture, so many Americans are happy to accept, again and again, vapid mediocrity (or worse) and pure hype. Two words: American Idol.

— And one more entry in my I-just-don't-get-these-times file: In this week's issue of Sports Illustrated, in the Pop Culture Grid on page 27, one of four athletes surveyed is Cleveland Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson.
